Watamu's Mapango launches its all-events week, on the beautiful terrace overlooking one of the enchanting bays of Kenya's most popular resort for Italians.
The bar-restaurant inside the Lily Palm Resort starting on Saturday offers the 'Italian Evening on the Beach', with grilled fish and meat, pasta, pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven, and various buffet snacks. The very special price is Kes. 1500 with a soft drink included.
Monday evening, 6 February, sees the remake of one of the cult weekly events, in the golden years of Italian Malindi, at the historic restaurant restaurant of founder Mimì Frascione. Mapango has decided to bring back those atmospheres by proposing, as it did then, a unique 'all-fish' dinner with a fixed menu, with the evocative title 'Lilyndina'. Starting at 8 p.m., tuna tartare with avocado and basil will be served as an entrée, followed by the famous Neapolitan-style 'sciuè sciuè' spaghetti with prawns, and, in addition to vegetable side dishes and Chips, the highlight: grilled lobsters and prawns galore. All prepared and coordinated by an Italian chef. Price, Kes. 6000 excluding drinks.
Lastly, on Wednesday 8 February, the third episode of the highly successful "La Poldo Night" series: after the success of the hamburger dinner and last Wednesday's Milanese schnitzel, here come the Kentucky Fried Chicken burgers with special, appetising dressing.
