Italians causing division in Kenya: from influencers to racists

Iceberg tips that we hope will melt soon at the equator

24-07-2026 by Freddie del Curatolo

Every now and then, even the most ‘Brahmin-like’ of Kenya’s storytellers for Italians (and also the best, because he’s more or less the only one) can lose his patience, especially when he has to witness not only the exploits of property speculators – fellow countrymen who flout the most basic rules and evade taxes and planning permission – but there are also those sensationalist madmen who, just to get ‘likes’ on their profiles, are ready to say and do anything, yet in real life behave in a completely different manner and deserve to be sent home; in some cases, we should be able to talk about ‘targeted remigration’. They are the worst Italians of today, comparable to the major ‘divisive figures’ who are all the rage on social media in our country. Well, have we chosen this downward spiral? There’s little we can do about it… but at least in Kenya, leave us in peace!
Since I receive dozens of emails and messages along the lines of ‘why don’t you talk about this?’, here I am doing just that – though not in writing.
I discuss these sad issues, and the need to remain united in order to highlight the many positive aspects of the Italian community in Kenya, in this video on the ‘Italians in Kenya’ YouTube channel.
ENJOY WATCHING.
