Non Solo Gelato opens shops in Kilifi and Diani

The Italian food and café chain is expanding along the Kenyan coast

Fortunately, news often arrives from Kenya that lifts the spirits, and other news that is… a real treat. If you want to combine these two aspects to talk about sweetness and flavour, coupled with ‘made in Italy’ professionalism, today is the perfect day to announce the expansion of the ‘Non Solo Gelato’ brand along the Kenyan coast. The tourist resorts of Kilifi and Diani are officially joining the Non Solo Gelato family with two new outlets.
From today, one of the most established Italian businesses in the catering and coffee sector in Kenya – with a range spanning from artisan gelato to pastries, from Italian coffee to pizza, right through to deli and catering – is adding two important new strings to its commercial bow.
The new outlet in Kilifi, located within the pit-stop at the Rubis service area opposite Pwani University, has been set up to serve a rapidly expanding community and an area that is becoming increasingly attractive for both tourism and residential living. At the same time, it offers the ideal spot for a coffee and croissant break on the way to or from Mombasa Airport.

The new outlet in Diani, one of East Africa’s most prestigious seaside resorts, will allow residents and visitors alike to enjoy an authentic Italian experience through products of the highest quality and service with attention to detail. In Diani, the outlet is situated within Centre Point Plaza, next to the Carrefour supermarket, and features a spacious veranda where guests can sit and savour the house specialities.
These new openings mark a further step in the brand’s development plan, which aims to consolidate its presence along the entire Kenyan coast and in the country’s major cities. Both new outlets will offer the best of Non Solo Gelato’s artisanal range: ice creams made with carefully selected ingredients, fresh pastries, Illy coffee, sandwiches, focaccia, piadina and numerous Italian specialities. The new openings will also help create new jobs and confirm the company’s commitment to sustainable development, by investing in the training of local staff and promoting Italian excellence.
“Every new opening represents much more than a simple commercial investment,” says Anna Leali, who founded Non Solo Gelato in 2014 in Watamu, “it is confirmation of the trust the company places in Kenya, in the people who work with us and in the enormous potential of this country. Our aim is to continue offering an authentic Italian experience whilst maintaining the quality standards that have characterised Non Solo Gelato since its inception.”
