Thirty years without his symbol, as if he had voluntarily decided to consign himself to the history of Italian Malindi, but too soon to no longer see his sardonic moustache behind the cash register, his professional kindness and old-fashioned politeness.
 
But at the Italian Supermarket in Malindi, at the Sabaki Centre, the story continues and Angelo Lattinelli's gaze stands out from his portrait, while his wife Lidia continues the adventure and commercial mission of offering all kinds of imported Italian products to Malindi's customers, residents, tourists, and even many Kenyan citizens who have now adopted it as a reference point for ‘good things’.
There is the history and memory of its founder, but also Lidia's feminine touch in the renovated Italian Supermarket, which is always open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On my recent tour of the coast, I couldn't help but stop by, hug Lidia, and celebrate Angelo and the thirty years of his creation.
