Another day without Covid-19 deceased in Kenya

Percentage rising a bit, few cases on the coast

07-02-2021 by redazione

Yet another death-free day for Covid-19 in Kenya.
This is a positive sign in view of a slightly higher percentage of positives per swab compared to the past few days (4.1%). In the last 24 hours there have been 156 official cases out of 3784 swabs analysed.
All this is taking place in a period of heavy weather for the health situation, with continuous strikes by the various categories of health workers who are demanding better conditions, safety and assurances on their safety. In some counties (in the last few days it was the turn of Taita Taveta) nurses and doctors who did not show up to work to participate in a union agitation were fired, while in the Rift Valley the Governors have tried to come to terms so as not to leave many facilities uncovered. Some parliamentarians have moved to ask for the head of Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, who they say does not have the situation under control.
Fortunately, the number of patients in the dedicated wards is not increasing. As I said, the number of deaths is still the same as 48 hours ago: 1776.
Thirty-four new patients have been declared cured and discharged, bringing the total number of those who have recovered from the virus to 84,302, while the number of positives is just over one hundred thousand (101,690).
More than half of the new cases, as always, come from Nairobi, while on the coast there are 10 positive cases in Mombasa and 3 in Kilifi, of which two in the sub-county that includes Watamu and 1 in Malindi.
There are currently 408 patients in the various health facilities in the country, while another 1422 are in isolation and under care at home.
