There are 62 new cases of positivity at Covid-19 announced on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 May by the Kenyan government.
The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health Rashid Abdi Aman, on Tuesday, May 26, announced at the usual daily press conference in Afya House that the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,348.
"We used 2293 tests - explained Abdi Aman - and found the infection in 59 Kenyan citizens and three foreigners. The total samples tested rose to 64,264. Today we also discharged three patients from our facilities, now there are 405 cured of the virus."
The youngest of those infected in the last 24 hours is a 6-year-old child, while the oldest is 64 years old.
Once again it is the capital Nairobi to have recorded the highest number of cases (23), followed by Mombasa (16) and Kwale County with 8, of which 4 on the border with Tanzania of Lungalunga and 4 in Msambweni. Other cases in Kiambu (6) Kajiado (6 also on the Tanzanian border) and Kitui (3).
In Nairobi, some cases return to the Islamic quarter of Eastleigh and continue to be positive in the Kibera slum. In Mombasa, it is always the Old City that is still contagious.
Abdi Aman recommended to the population to favour the work of searching for contacts of the infected and to avoid misinformation.
"I repeat once again - said the Administrative Secretary of Health - we have noticed a disturbing and dangerous behavior, which concerns people who have given false contacts during the targeted tests. We have talked about this in the last two briefings and I want to reiterate that it is important to provide accurate information because only in this way is it possible to trace the contacts".
