"We confirm that, as we predicted months ago, Kenya has reached the peak of cases of Covid-19 infection. We announced that the peak would occur between the end of August and the beginning of September, and here we are.
These are the words of Health Director and WHO Representative for Kenya Patrick Amoth.
His words come as the country registers a slight rise in the percentage of swab infections in Kenya, from 5.5% to 8%.
This is now the only important data, among all the numbers that leave time during the daily bulletins transmitted by the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
The facts, however, say that the two most important restrictive measures of the Covid-19 emergency still in force (evening curfew and closure of bars and nightclubs) have been extended until next September 26 and that the World Health Organization is increasingly convinced that Africa has reached its pandemic peak.
According to the findings of Wednesday, August 27, 373 new virus positives were recorded in the last 24 hours out of 4663 swabs analyzed, bringing the total number of infected in Kenya since the beginning of the pandemic to 33,389.
