"Among the various options we have, I am also thinking of closing the country completely again".
This is the thought of Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta who, yesterday Sunday 1 November during All Saints' evening Mass in Nairobi Cathedral, admitted that he is thinking of a new total lockdown.
The Head of State confirmed that he is concerned about the recent peak of positive cases, explaining that the team of the Ministry of Health is considering a series of measures to contain the peak, explaining that the reimposition of a lockdown as happened last March 25th is one of the restrictions to be considered.
"We are going through a difficult moment in which we are wondering what to do - said Kenyatta - Close? We will come back to it," he said.
Kenyatta pointed the finger especially at those who do not respect the basic protocols and rules, while the Board of Governors, next Wednesday, will formally ask the Government to close all the bars and restaurants in the country, where there is a new gathering in defiance of the rules and to bring back the curfew at 7 pm to end it at 5 am. In the dock, however, the politicians who are also resuming their crowded rallies.
"We are in a precarious situation at the moment and we must act quickly, to avoid a further escalation of the virus - said the President of the Board of Governors Wycliffe Oparanya - But the priority is the closure of the bars, which we believe to be the epicentre of the spread of the virus".
