Kenya, percentage falls to 3,3. Kenyatta optimistic

President: "Curve flattening, be resilient"

01-09-2020 by redazione

The percentage of positive per swab in Kenya drops to just over 3% and President Kenyatta confirms that the pandemic curve is in a downward phase.
All this happens while the World Health Organization invites the African country not to intentionally decrease the number of swabs analyzed in order to defuse it.
But this time it is the percentages that speak clearly and the difference always in negative between recorded cases and healings. Even yesterday, out of 144 contagions (out of 4260 swabs made, as announced above, a percentage of 3.3%), 205 patients who were still hospitalized in healthcare facilities or undergoing home care were signed out. There are almost 20 thousand cured of the virus in Kenya.
Even on the last day of August, deaths related to Covid-19 were revealed. Three people have lost their lives being also positive for Coronavirus. This brings the number of deaths to 577.
Not even on purpose, Nairobi recorded the exact half of the cases on Monday, August 31, that is 77 (when it is said that Nairobi represents half of the infections is really true). Mombasa returns to record a few more cases (18) while the other positives are scattered in 16 other counties with cases varying between 9 and one. On the coast beyond Mombasa only one more positive, in Kilifi County.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, during the online update conference on the Covid-19 situation with the counties, reiterated that the country has reacted very well to emergencies and for this reason in the time provided by the Ministry of Health the peak has been reached without major problems and losses and now should begin the downward phase. According to the President, the Kenyan people have also shown themselves to be responsible and cooperative.
"But to do even better - said the President - we must remain alert and intellectually honest and not change our aggressive approach. From now on resilience becomes a fundamental aspect to defeat the virus".
