It had been more than three months, exactly since last May 26, that in the 24 hours between one Covid-19 bulletin and the other there were zero deaths in the country.
Good news that confirms the downward trend of the pandemic curve, already announced by the World Health Organization.
The most cheerful fact in fact is the percentage of cases compared to the swabs carried out in the country, yesterday Friday, August 28, the figure fell to 5.3% which is a very auspicious percentage.
In fact, 241 infections were recorded on 4520 swabs analyzed, bringing the total to 33,630, while that of the deceased remains at 567.
Another 66 patients in the meantime have been discharged from hospital or declared cured after the home care program. The total number of healed patients increases to 19,434.
There was a small increase in the coastal area, with Mombasa recording 14 new virus positives, Lamu County 5 and Kilifi County 4.
For the rest, as always, Nairobi recorded about half of the cases and nine other counties reported less than 4 cases.
The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health Rashid Abdi Aman pointed out that just under one in two of those who died with the Coronavirus suffered from malnutrition, as well as one in three of those who died was overweight or even obese.
"The pandemic in Kenya has represented and represents a serious risk to the nutritional status and survival of vulnerable groups of the population - said Aman - such as young children, pregnant and lactating women, people with basic medical conditions, people living with disabilities and the elderly.
