From tomorrow, according to the directives of the Ministry of Health of Kenya, citizens from foreign countries will have to show proof of complete vaccination cycle in order to enter.
In fact, the order signed by Minister Mutahi Kagwe also concerned the access of Kenyan citizens to all public and government services.
According to the proposal issued last November 22, from Tuesday, December 21 anyone who needs to access government services or offices and is not in possession of a "covid vaccination certificate" will be able to do so only online. But the directive went further, requiring even airport authorities not to accept for domestic flights people who are not fully vaccinated.
On the strength of Kenya, the issue has landed in the High Court of Nairobi, after a businessman and activist has filed a petition for "violation of human rights" that has been accepted, with hearing not yet fixed. Result: the internal issue, public services and government offices has been suspended, while the discourse on the entry into Kenya limited to holders of vaccine passport has remained in limbo that, unless last day's declarations, that is today December 20, as usual will hand over to individual immigration officers and controllers the power to decide whether to admit unvaccinated travelers.
Land in which corruption could unfortunately wallow.
But the problem for those about to travel to Kenya is broader. As is well known, Italy persists, at least until 31 January but probably until March 30, 2022, the date of the extension of our State of Emergency, the ban on travel for tourism in the countries of the so-called "Band E", with some exceptions relating to work commitments, study, volunteering, family reunification, change of residence (as already written on this portal dozens and dozens of times and check the site Viaggiaresicuri.it of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
Apart from this fact, the site of the Farnesina still reports the news that from next December 21 in Kenya can not enter travelers without "Green Pass" or its certificate of complete vaccination against Covid-19.
True or not true, applied or not applied, the Italian airport authorities or the same airlines at check-in could require the certificate and in case of inability to produce it could leave those who are going to leave for Kenya.
In the day of today we could have confirmations or news, for now this is the situation.
