Kenya tourist visa: already paying for extension after 3 months

Special passes and dependant passes also increased

27-05-2024 by redazione

Kenya's new immigration fees have officially been implemented for the first non-resident foreigners in Kenya who wished to extend their tourist visa beyond the first three months, required by law from entry into the country, after applying for the ETA travel authorisation, at a cost of USD 30 plus tax.
While before the new fee schedule, which affects not only tourists but all categories of citizens, including Kenyans, came into effect, the visa extension was free of charge, now those who want to stay for up to three more months in Kenya will have to pay $50, and compulsorily apply online through the ecitizen.go.ke portal (or for those who had already registered previously, fns.immigration.go.ke)
Among other service charges, special passes and dependant passes have also increased.
Special passes are temporary work permits and a 5000 shilling 'processing fee' is added to the normal $200 permit fee.
While for dependant passes, which cover the residence of relatives of those with a resident and/or resident work permit, the processing fee is added to the issuance fees of 10 thousand shillings per year for the duration of the relative's permit, and the so-called 're-entry pass' which previously cost Kes. 1000 and will now be issued at a cost of Kes. 5000.
