Floods, Nairobi airport also flooded

International flights suspended and inconvenience for passengers

27-04-2024 by redazione

The floods that have hit Nairobi in recent days also affected the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport yesterday. Terminal C1 at the capital's airport flooded, resulting in inconveniences affecting the baggage area, check-in and waiting room. As a result, some international flights were suspended, inconveniencing passengers and employees who had to leave their stations due to heavy water leaking from the ceiling.
Terminal C1 houses airlines such as Qatar, Lufthansa, Ethiopia, Turkish and Rwandair.
The inconveniences for passengers could continue into the weekend, especially if the rains do not abate.
The country, as we have already reported, is on its knees due to the increase in heavy rains caused by the tail end of Cyclone El Nino. Yesterday, emergency authorities said that since the onset of the bad weather throughout Kenya, 70 casualties have been recorded, with about 120,000 people displaced.
According to meteorologists, the rains could affect much of the country until the end of May.
