Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung'aro met with Italian Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè in Rome, as part of the signing of an agreement to fund maritime education and training courses for young people in the coastal region.
This was revealed by Mung'aro himself on his social profiles, adding that the Italian government will finance these courses to provide young people with the necessary skills to carry out jobs at sea in the Blue Economy sector. ‘Our goal is to stimulate economic growth by investing in them,’ the governor wrote. Plans to strengthen Malindi's link with Italian tourism were also discussed, with the hope of attracting more investors and tourists to the area.
"I am excited about this partnership and believe it will revitalise Kilifi County as a premier tourism destination. Kilifi holds a special place in my heart,' said Mung'aro, without specifying what links and prospects were discussed. But thanks to some members of the ruling party in Italy and their connection to Malindi, one can only hope for something positive.
