Today came the response of the charter airline Neos to the suspension of direct flights from Milan and Verona to Mombasa and the corrective measures taken to remedy the inconvenience caused by the decision of the Kenyan Government.
The flights this evening and tomorrow that would arrive via Zanzibar, will re-propose the "holiday packages" to which the Zanzibar solution is fine, in one of the villages managed by the affiliated Alpitour Tour Operators of the Tanzanian island, while the "flight only" customers will not be able to board the planes and will be refunded the ticket. The direct Milan-Mombasa plane, on the other hand, is totally cancelled on departure and will still come to Mombasa empty to pick up passengers returning to Italy, as well as those coming from Zanzibar, who will suffer about 2 hours of delay compared to the announced timetable. This also applies, however, to planes coming from Rome.
This process will most likely take place next week with another flight, but we are expecting communications from the charter company about dates and times.
No problem then for those who have to return to Italy and a "goodbye" to Kenya for the next time for those who dreamed of a holiday in Watamu, Diani or Malindi and will have to go back to another destination in the Indian Ocean of Africa. For those who would have used the direct charter to come to Kenya for a stay or a "do-it-yourself" holiday and do not want to give it up, all that remains is to reuse the money of the refund to leave with another company (not that there are many left ...).
