CORONAVIRUS

Kenya continues its march towards 10 million vaccines injected to its citizens, as per the Government's goals to be achieved by the end of the year 2021.
The data transmitted yesterday, Saturday, November 20 by the Kenyan Ministry of Health speak of 6,375,787 vaccines administered throughout the country.
Of these, 3,981,902 are stopped at the first dose, while there are almost 2 million 400 thousand Kenyans fully vaccinated. From this, it can be seen that slightly more than one in two Kenyans who have voluntarily come forward to be vaccinated against Covid-19 have completed the cycle to obtain a vaccination certificate. The percentage of fully vaccinated adults does not exceed 9% and the goal of vaccinating all 27 million and 250 thousand adults is still a pipe dream.
Also because to date, the Ministry of Health has received just under 11 million doses.
Last, in order of delivery, 540 thousand doses of Moderna vaccine, arrived in recent days.
As for the presence of the virus in Kenya, even yesterday the rate of positivity in the country did not exceed one and a half percent, with only 59 cases of virus out of 4336 swabs taken.
No deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours as well. Deaths from Covid-19 in Kenya since the start of the pandemic stand at 5325.
On the other hand, patients who were hospitalized or being treated at home continue to recover. Yesterday, another 45 recovered from the disease, equally divided between those who were in the hospital and those treated at home with the supervision of health workers.
There are currently 354 patients in the country's health facilities, while another 985 are in isolation and home care. The intensive care units are increasingly empty, with only twenty-one patients admitted, nine of them with ventilatory support and 12 with supplemental oxygen. No patients are under observation. Another 116 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 114 of them in the general wards while two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Data that continue to authorize optimism, even if they serve little purpose in terms of trust and the reopening of tourism from Italy and other countries that are far too rigid on the rules to be applied to Kenya and other African countries.
