Pishori babes, who are the dangerous 'sirens' of Kenyan nights

Cases of narcotized and robbed customers increase in Kenya

12-03-2024 by Freddie del Curatolo

They call them 'Pishori Babes', after the raw basmati rice sold on the streets in the suburbs of Nairobi and Mombasa. But the 'Pishori Babes' are now everywhere in Kenya, from the tame and seemingly harmless ones that roam the tourist spots on the coast, frequented by foreigners, to the wily and even murderous ones in the small towns of the central regions, the capital and the Rift Valley towns, where their prey are wealthy Kenyans in search of impromptu adventures.

Their tactic is that, ancient and eternal, of the sirens of Ulysses. They bewitch not with song, but with dance and movement on a nightclub dance floor.
Often, when they know they are being ogled by a possible casual partner, it is they who approach and offer the first drink.
After one or more drinks, they become brazen and if the man is available, they are ready to act accordingly.
The last two Pishori girls arrested drugged their customer, who was evidently anticipating a threesome, after spraying a powerful chloroform liquid on their breasts.
It was the owner of the 'V Spot Nightlife' nightclub in the town of Thika, as told by Radio Capital, who was alarmed when he saw the two 'babes' walking off with the customer, holding him up because he had evidently already 'tasted' their protuberances, and who called the police who caught the two girls red-handed, inside the unfortunate man's car.

"Before any action could be taken, the victim had already passed out, leaving the women free to steal his ATM cards and personal documents," said the police, who managed with the help of the venue's staff, to stop the two thugs fleeing with the loot.
The authorities issued a warning to clubbers, particularly men, to remain vigilant against these predatory criminals who target vulnerable individuals in order to rob them after rendering them harmless with drugs.
"Drug and robbery incidents have tragically resulted in the loss of lives in some cases, underscoring the importance of exercising caution and remaining in the company of trusted friends during nighttime activities," it reads.

During the tourist season last month, similar cases also occurred in Mtwapa and Watamu. Some tourists were robbed in their sleep, after inviting casual acquaintances to sleep in their accommodation.
One Italian tourist reported that he woke up particularly groggy after spending the night with a girl he had met in a club in Watamu and that his mobile phone and wallet were missing.
In Nairobi, after a party at a club in the Eastern By Pass in Nairobi, three women were arrested for attempting to narcotize by slipping narcotic tablets into drinks. The bartender allegedly alerted security officers after noticing the victims' strange behaviour.
"The men were unaware that they had innocently invited a bunch of pishori babes, whose intentions were not to have fun, but to rob them! As the evening wore on, the ungrateful women added a narcotic substance to the drinks and started wooing the men by whispering that the time had come,' said the police.

And it was just as well that the bartender in Nairobi, as well as the club owner in Thika, were not conniving. The most notorious Pishori gang, in fact, was arrested after several such raids, at the notorious 'Kiwekewa Pishori' club (hence the gang's name), and complicity with a notorious wanted man who had his 'entrances' in the premises came to light.
The dangerous fashion of the moment, in nightclubs, is this. The uninhibited Kenyan girls, who often even to foreign tourists offer themselves candidly and alone and do not have the air of those who do the oldest job in the world and have a protector behind them, do not give you the fare immediately but talk to you about the little sister they keep at school, are capable of anything. The advice is to be very careful with their behaviour, always keep an eye out for a drink and above all...don't kiss their breasts!
