Nobody expected this.
It was talked about, and even we mentioned it as a very remote hypothesis, a couple of years ago.
But now, a few months before the elections and a few days after the final presentation of candidates and lists, it seems really possible that Barack Obama could become the sensational candidate for the presidency of Kenya.
The former American head of state, as it is known, was born from a Kenyan father and an American mother and has brothers and sisters still in Kenya.
Several times, at the end of his double mandate, he went to Nairobi and Kisumu not only to visit his family, including his elderly grandmother Sarah, to whom he was very fond and whose funeral he attended despite the restrictions of the pandemic.
His presence in Kenya, it has only now been discovered, was connected to his request for Kenyan citizenship.
A request that the state did not deny him, also because he could never have imagined that he would have used it to become head of one of the fastest growing countries in the world and always balanced in its alliances between the U.S. and China.
The party has already been founded, it is called Federation Afro Kenyan Empowerment (F.A.K.E).
It will be important, given the charisma of Obama, who has already announced unofficially that his first battle will be the one against corruption and the second the one for environment and energy, to see which politicians will decide to ally with him and who will be his real opponent.
This is certainly unprecedented for any African country and this choice could change the scenarios of the entire continent forever.
We shall see and from tomorrow there could already be important, explosive, declarations.
