Now in the small dispensary of Marikebuni they save lives

Great job of an Onlus from Switzerland

A banal umbilical cord infection.
Until a few months ago, no one could treat the mother and child of Marikebuni; for important things, one had to go to Mambrui.
Take the first matatu and hope for the best. The small emergency room in the hinterland of Malindi was reduced to a crumbling building, with a roof that risked collapse and rooms at the limit of livability.
Everything in the maternity ward was rusty, not even a water tank, which is rare here.
Today, with the help of the Ticino-based non-profit organization "Sorrisi Africani" and the supervision of Malindikenya.net, the Marikebuni Dispensary is a modern structure, regulated and has services worthy of a human being. Services have been built, both for men and women, with septic tanks and showers, a large water tank has been placed covered and raised, the roof and walls of the warehouse and office have been totally redone, the emergency room has been enlarged, modernized and a room has been added, and another small store for medicines has been created. Moreover, thanks to the intervention of the builder Giulio Giro, who has put his own, two new windows and a door have been added, and the flooring has been redone. Finally, sinks and fixtures were changed and the flooring redone, giving the entire building a nice refresh. "Now we have a facility that can serve the more than 5,000 people in this area," said the dispensary manager, "we have to thank the generous donors and hope that this is the beginning of a partnership that can improve healthcare in Marikebuni even more. The entire project of restoration and expansion of the structure cost around 40 thousand euros and the implementation took just under three months. "It's wonderful and satisfying to see that what we dreamed for so many people of a poor place, we were able to realize - says the president of the non-profit organization, Mauro Stoppa, from Lugano - in that area, which we know very well because we already send to school about fifty children in the hinterland of Mambrui, there was a priority to properly restore the only health center available. We managed to do it and it is a great joy for us. Now we will check that this effort for which we thank many fellow citizens who have contributed with their hearts, is not thwarted by neglect." For this there is also malindikenya.net
