The dream continues for the boys of Real Malindi, our football academy that takes the young and very young off the streets of the deprived neighbourhoods of the town of Malindi.
It is a sporting dream, because the team of the ‘grown-ups’, that is, 18 year olds or thereabouts, winning in an away match is one step away from the second place that would guarantee them the finals to aspire for the jump in the category. 3-1 to Kakuyuni in front of the fans of the Inter Club Cuneo who came on purpose to learn about this project also supported by Karibuni Odv and donated shirts and shorts, being able to see the passion and desire of everyone to give hope, at several levels.
But it is also a dream of self-sustenance, because ever since Real Malindi became a CBO, that is, an all-local social reality, from another great Italian heart, the entrepreneur Luca Mangialardo, a donation arrived to rent an office that also serves as a warehouse for the team, and as a meeting and reference point, right on the road to Tsavo, just outside Malindi and in front of the Furunzi playing field.
Now another small step is missing to make it functional, the furnishing. Once again, Italians can do their part, donating something they may not use or have in their garage or warehouse. What is needed is a large desk and a small one, two normal chairs and two for receiving guests, some shelves and perhaps a cupboard or cabinet.
As always, the reference is manager Joseph, the first captain of the team that was then called Genoa Malindi, 15 years ago, and today a graduate in human resources and creator, with coach David Badili, of the laudable project that gives dreams that then, just as in the case of Joseph and his other teammates, become a beautiful reality that brings their lives on tracks of dignity, economic sustenance, the possibility of starting a family. In short, of a life that, like a game, began under a goal and can be won.
