Malindi Green And Blue today at Malindi National Museum

PWAM Chairperson Kate Mwikali talks about projects behind Monthly Clean Ups

10-03-2020 by Leni Frau

A year of Malindi Green And Blue, twelve months of cleaning every second Saturday of the month, a story of will, coherence and participation that brings with it a very precise objective, that of bringing Malindi to the intelligent collection of waste, recycling and the creation of jobs and earnings for those who will collaborate, as the only solution to have a healthy, welcoming and sustainable town and tourist destination.
This and the collaboration through garbage collection will be discussed today, Tuesday 10 March at 4.30 pm (punctuality is recommended) at the National Museum of Malindi, behind Uhuru Garden, in the presence of the chairperson of the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi, Kate Mwikali and one of its founders, Freddie del Curatolo. The meeting was organized by the Malindi Museum Society, an organization active for years in organizing cultural and conservation events in the sub-district of Malindi and actively collaborating with the National Museum.
Kate Mwikali, with the help of the images, will tell the genesis of an operation that has created many "active" principles of imitation, starting from the nearby Mambrui and that has attracted the Kenyan institutions, at local, regional and national level that have spent to share and promote the project.
This project is not only a pure and simple cleaning exercise, but also concerns health, safety (the Kilifi County Police is always present alongside the organizers during the Clean Up), the tourism sector (many hoteliers and tourism-related activities that help Malindi Green And Blue) and the departments of Environment, Health and Transport, as well as various trade, religious and civil society associations.
An important appointment for those who want to know better and understand more about this project whose continuity and growth is the basis of a better future for Malindi.
You are all invited.
