A successful february Clean Up in Kisumundogo

Malindi Green And Blue monthly initiatives don't stop

14-02-2021 by Leni Frau

As they do every month, responsible citizens of Malindi led by the Malindi Green And Blue Movement founded by PWAM and assisted by the local police force and representatives of the National Government and the Kilifi County Department of the Environment, gathered yesterday to clean an area of the town among those where it is particularly important to raise awareness and educate people about separate waste collection and the correct placement of rubbish for the health and hygiene of the citizens themselves. The appointment was therefore in the heart of the working-class neighbourhood of Kisumundogo, from where just under a hundred people came out, wearing gloves and masks, and invited local residents to do the same by taking part in the clean-up day.
As has been the case since the monthly exercise resumed after the end of the total restrictions, young people from the government's Kazi Mtaani programme also participated, i.e. unemployed people offered temporary paid work by the state to help with routine maintenance.
Also at the forefront of operations this month were Malindi Chief of Police (OCPD) Joe Lekuta, ACC Kipsiwa, as well as PWAM Chairperson Kate Mwikali and Malindi Sub-County Environment Officer Lennox Mwangolo.
The work of Malindi Green And Blue continues and continues to be supported not only by public bodies such as KWS, but also by associations such as the Red Cross, Rotaract, Kenya Association of Women in Tourism, Myrerc and others, and private individuals such as in this case Skywards Airlines.
