With great sadness Franco embarked on his last safari. A "request of his that I could not refuse": he had me move from Nairobi to Malindi in late 1978.....the year he invented Malindi, a destination unknown to Italians; I collaborated closely and proudly with Franco Rosso and Roberto Palma in the creation and management of the first Italian hotel not on the sea, using the private beach on the property that became the present Rosada beach (then Symon Beach).
His bold choice, unquestionably created Malindi village, from a fishing village. I feel it is incumbent on Italians to know that the initially tourist road later became to a "Little Italy" which, although small in size, still remains number one on the Kenyan coast as a destination for Italian tourism.
