At the start of the high season, in August, when the effects of last year's excellent harvest are beginning to be seen, one of the liveliest and most enjoyable places to visit by the ocean is offering something new, starting with its new owner, an old and experienced acquaintance of the tourist destination.
 
It is the welcome return of the “prodigal son” Mario Ciampi, who has been working behind the bar and in the kitchens of Kenya's best restaurants for more than twenty years.
With him, and the continuity of the Lily Palm Resort's vision, the renovation brings more flavor, attention to service, and many new additions to the menu, in anticipation of the coming months, which promise weekly events, musical aperitifs, and other entertainment surprises.
Starting this week, those who visit the restaurant for lunch and dinner will be spoiled for choice with a wide selection of fresh fish, delicious carpaccios, tartares, and salads, special pasta and risotto dishes, and the ever-present grilled and fried dishes. There is also room for land specialities, with a selection of meat from the highlands of Kenya. The pizza menu, one of Mapango's strengths in recent seasons, has also been revamped. Together with the splendid view of the sea at Watamu, the bar-restaurant promises to be a meeting place and a place to enjoy good food for international tourists and residents alike. We look forward to seeing what else Mario has up his sleeve.
