For the first few days of the year, and at least until further indications through the etakenya.go.ke website, one will still enter Kenya with the current online visa mechanism to be applied for exclusively at the evisa.go.ke website.
The implementation of the new electronic travel authorisation (ETA) is in fact not yet finished and the same site asks for patience for a few more days. Although at the same time, until yesterday it gave instructions to use evisa until 31 December 2023.

As we had already written, for those who have already planned to travel to Kenya between now and March, it is still advisable to apply with the old visa, because the immigration office has already confirmed that it will be accepted within three months from 31 December (the date of validity of the visa issuance, the validity of the stay instead starts from the arrival in Kenya).

Those, on the other hand, who will decide at the last minute when to travel in the coming weeks, will have to stick to the two sites and check the directions, as well as always tune in to our portal and its social branches.
We would also like to remind you that even residents, as soon as ETA is officially implemented, will have to do the authorisation and pay the €30 plus fees. Only Kenyan citizens and those from East African Community partner states are exempt.

The website warns, although the APP is not yet available.

Here is what you will need to apply for an ETA:

Passport valid for at least six (6) months from the expected date of arrival in Kenya with at least one blank page
Selfie or passport photo
Contact information, email address and telephone number
Arrival and departure itinerary details
Confirmation(s) of accommodation booking
Credit card, debit card, Apple pay or other means of payment
Depending on country of residence and citizenship, the following may also be required
Financial assets / letters from banks
Reservation of return transport (air ticket,.)

Depending on the purpose of the visit, the following documents may also be required
Letter and/or appointment letter from the referring doctor/hospital
Letter of invitation/attendance at a conference
Work contract

Supporting documents for resettlement
Processing times vary depending on the type of eTA and country of citizenship.

The standard processing time is three (3) working days.
