Covid-19 Kenya: good numbers now

Only two deaths, more tests, less positives

03-06-2020 by redazione

The average number of positive cases continues to fall compared to swabs carried out in Kenya and even serious cases are still under control. Yesterday's data for the last 24 hours, Tuesday 2 June, also recorded 72 cases out of almost three thousand targeted swabs, especially in quarantine centres, at borders and among health workers.
The Administrative Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Health, Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman, in the usual press conference at Afya House announced that the number of infections in Kenya has risen to 2093 and that of the 72 new positives 50 are men and 22 are women, with the youngest being 11 and the oldest being 73.
Seventeen patients were released because they were declared cured, while two other people died from the virus. This unpleasant figure brings the total of those who did not make it, in fact almost all patients already sick or hospitalized with other diseases, to 71.
This brings the number of active cases in the country after 82,946 people were tested.
"The increase in the number of infected people," Abdi Aman reiterated, "was caused by the increase in targeted buffers, but we must continue to observe all measures to further curb the spread of the virus.
Abdi Aman also recalled that truckers must continue to do Covid-19 tests at least 48 hours before each trip and take their negative certificates with them to all the borders of East Africa if they want to continue their journey.
