Four more cases of positivity at Covid 19 bring the total number of infected people in the country to 42 today, Sunday 29 March. This was confirmed at a press conference earlier today by Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe.
The Minister specified that three of the four new cases were registered in Nairobi and only one belongs to a Kenyan citizen, the other three are an American and two Africans from Cameroon and Burkina Faso.
Three of them were tested in Nairobi and the fourth in Mombasa.
Summing up the general data, Kagwe recalled that of the 42 current cases 24 are male and 18 are female. In Nairobi the highest concentration, with 31 positives, followed by Kilifi County with 6 cases (one in Malindi), Mombasa with 3 and Kwale and Kajiado with one each.
So far, 1426 people have been monitored, while another 215 have been discharged after the mandatory 14 days of quarantine.
"In order to contain the pandemic - said the Minister - mass tests are underway on those who have arrived in the country since last Sunday. Another 18 people have already been swabbed and we are waiting for the results of the tests at Mbagathi Hospital. If they are positive they will be immediately isolated".
The Kenyan Health Minister also thanked the private hospital facilities that are making themselves available to the government day after day to help in the emergency, as well as all those who will lend a hand on a voluntary basis.
