CORONAVIRUS

For the first time Kenya is experiencing more healings than positive cases within 24 hours.
It is a fact that could authorise optimism if one could not also think that the resignation of patients on the same day was agreed.
In any case, as Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe recalled in the usual daily press conference for the Covid-19 bulletin on Thursday 16 July held in Nakuru County, 570 patients were discharged, but 58 of them were hospitalized in health facilities in the country (the others were being treated at home), compared to 421 new positives, detected by 3895 swabs in the previous 24 hours.
The number of coronavirus infections rose to 11673 and the number of cures to 3638, bringing the number of active cases in the country down to 7818.
Of the positive cases, 409 are Kenyan citizens and 12 are foreigners. 297 are males and 124 are females, the youngest of which is a one-year-old girl, while the oldest is a 93-year-old man.
"We are convinced that day after day the Kenyans have reached an adequate level of understanding and prevention," Kagwe said, "we continue to pray to everyone to remain vigilant and safe. On its side, the Government is working to achieve 100% health coverage.
In Nairobi there is a new outbreak in the district of Starehe (60) cases, while attention remains high in Westland, Dagoretti North and Lang'ata.
On the coast there are another 4 cases reported in Lamu, while Mombasa, after having recorded the lowest number of cases last Wednesday, yesterday returned to 15 cases.
