One month from today for Kenyan citizens and residents to obtain their vaccination certificates, or they will no longer be able to access government and national services, from government offices to transportation, including hospitals and immigration services.
This crackdown on vaccination passports was announced on Sunday, November 21 by Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, during his press conference on Covid-19.
"Everyone who wants to access government services in person will have to be fully vaccinated and proof of their vaccinations must be available by December 21 next year," Kagwe said. "These services will include: KRA Services, Education, Immigration Services, Hospital and Prison Visits, NTSA and Port Services, but they will not be limited to just these.
In the idea of the Government must be included all operators in the transportim sector so drivers, cab drivers, tuk-tuk and boda-boda, airline pilots and stewardesses. Having done this, even those who use these services will have to produce proof of vaccination.
In the new measures announced by the Minister of Health, starting next November 23, there will also be the lowering of the age of vaccination from 18 to 12 years. The WHO unit for Kenya has also given the go-ahead for the use of Pfizer doses for those under 18.
The country is enjoying a period of low infection rates, largely due to measures put in place by the state to curb the spread of the virus," Kagwe said. "The government is preparing a robust vaccination exercise across the country starting on November 26, with the intention of vaccinating 30 million Kenyans as soon as possible.
