Time expired to register kenyan SIM cards

Government ordered operators to deactivate numbers

18-10-2022 by redazione

Time has expired for anyone who has not registered their Kenyan phone cards at the relevant offices or through the relevant telephone services. In fact, the government has called on all mobile phone operators in Kenya to meet the deadline for unregistered phone cards and deactivate them within the next 60 days of the registration exercise that ended last Saturday.

In a press release issued yesterday, Monday 17 October, the Communications Authority of Kenya gave the telecoms another two months to ensure 100 per cent compliance with the registration exercise.
"The 60 days is not an extension," specified authority director Ezra Chiloba, "but a period in which mobile operators can take certain actions, including denial of service, phased denial of service to holders of SIM cards that are not properly registered, and possible deactivation.
