There is always the Africa of sea and savannah in the beginning and end of one of Italy's most celebrated love stories. Francesco Totti and Ilary Blasi have split up after 17 years of marriage and the blonde TV presenter has decided to return to the equator, just a few miles from where she decided to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays 14 years ago with the then Roma captain and their two children Christian and Chanel (to be joined in 2016 by Isabel) in Diani, in the splendid natural paradise of Chale Island, in the resort designed by Italian Mario Scianna.
A short safari in the Shimba Hills made Ilary particularly enamoured of the savannah and its animals in the wild. So, immediately after the announcement of their separation, the soubrette from the Marche wanted to leave with her three children and her sister for Africa. This time she chose the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, an excursion to the foothills of Kilimanjaro and a few days in the Indian Ocean in Zanzibar.
'Get to know the Maasai tribes, climb Kilimanjaro and enjoy wonderful safaris among lions, elephants, zebras and giraffes'. These were Ilary's goals, as she wrote on her social profiles, after she was photographed as she stepped off an Ethiopian Airlines plane at Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania.
