Who loves Malindi will be on the road on 10th

Government praises stakeholders' mobilisation

06-08-2019 by Freddie del Curatolo

Saturday morning the cleaning of an area of Malindi by organized citizens, various environmental associations and civil society, in concert with the County of Kilifi and the municipality of Malindi will take place for the fifth month in a row.
An initiative that continues and has already had a lot of  consents, as well as being talked about by the national press and the main media.
So much so that every month they move and reach the town members of the Government as well as the highest officials of the County.
But very important is the active participation of many residents and the involvement of shopkeepers, entrepreneurs and citizens who have passionately understood the message of unity to improve our location. A message of which street cleaning is only the tip of the iceberg, because the goal is to get to the separation of waste and recycling, also generating revenue for those who will operate.
This Saturday the theme of the Clean Up is "Collaboration with tourism through separate collection", so we hope to see, unlike the previous occasions (but it was low season) also holidaymakers, tourists and those who live in Malindi for most of the year. But not only that, the route this month goes from the roundabout where you will start around 8:00 am, to the Casino/Bar Bar, where you will meet precisely with those who want to participate at 8:30 am, and then go back on the Lamu Road to the space in front of the Lawfords still, and hopefully for a while, sadly occupied by an open-air landfill.
For the occasion, the roads on the route will be closed to traffic from 8 to 9.30 a.m. and safety will be guaranteed by the local police.
The appointment is therefore for everyone, will be provided gloves, bags for collection, spades rakes and wheelbarrows. Many volunteers will provide all this and their passion.
Those who love Malindi Saturday morning should participate, without if and without but.
