Pasta Nova: Italian-style pasta made in Kenya

The company has opened in Nairobi and is already on the market

Traditional Italian pasta, produced right here in Kenya, has finally arrived. It’s called “Pasta Nova” and stems from a long-standing Italian family tradition, built on over seventy years of experience in the food industry. At the heart of the project lies a simple yet fundamental belief: quality is non-negotiable. Over time, this philosophy has guided the family not only in production but also in the decision to bring their expertise to Kenya.

Thus, the Italian company established itself in the capital, Nairobi—the beating heart of East Africa’s economy—and opened its production center in the Tatu City Special Economic Zone, the modern industrial area where an increasing number of businesses are relocating.

It is here that Pasta Nova took shape, a project that combines Italian gastronomy with a modern entrepreneurial vision. The goal is clear: to produce high-quality pasta locally, reducing dependence on imports and offering the market an authentic, reliable, and truly affordable product for the local market, retailers, the hospitality and restaurant sectors, and even for Italians living in Kenya.

The production facility was inaugurated a few days ago by the Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, coinciding with the visit to Kenya by the mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the attendees were able to see how the production process adheres to rigorous standards, maintaining a balance between tradition and technology, using machinery from one of the leading companies in the pasta production and drying sector, “La Parmigiana” of Fidenza.

The semolina is carefully selected to ensure structure and cooking performance, and processed with pure water under controlled conditions. The extrusion process gives the pasta an ideal surface for retaining sauces, while drying takes place at low, controlled temperatures and over longer periods than faster industrial processes, thus preserving flavor and nutritional quality. Every stage is accompanied by constant checks to ensure consistency and reliability in the final product.

The Pasta Nova range includes the short pasta shapes most loved by both home consumers and the professional sector, such as penne and fusilli. The offering is designed to adapt to the needs of the local market, with the possibility of developing dedicated solutions for operators in the restaurant and hospitality sectors.

Pasta Nova is already distributed through various channels, for example at the supermarket of Italian importer Vinyasa in Malindi and at the Chandarana chain in Nairobi. The local presence allows for greater flexibility, faster lead times, and direct control over product quality.

Ordering Pasta Nova is simple, for both business and private customers, thanks to a growing distribution network and a service-oriented approach. The company also works closely with its partners to develop tailor-made solutions, always keeping product quality and consistency at the forefront.

Pasta Nova is therefore much more than just a pasta producer: it is the expression of a family that continues to evolve, bringing authentic Italian flavor to a local context, with a concrete vision for the future.
