METEO
16-09-2021 by redazione
If once our grandparents in Italy coined the saying "there are no more half seasons", in recent years in Kenya we could start saying "there are no more rainy seasons".
The strange year 2021 continues to offer climatic situations that have little to do with the equatorial scanning of the seasons. In fact, if from May to July the abundant rains that have been lacking have been contrasted by unusually rigid climates for the country (15 degrees on the coast, close to zero in the Rift Valley and in the north of the country), the situation of instability does not stop.
The Kenyan Meteorological Service has in fact confirmed that this week rainfall will return and in some regions of the country will also be abundant, as should happen in late October, for the classic "small rains". The news however does not displease at all Kenyans who have been dealing with a great drought for a long time and who see their crops and activities related to them, as well as livestock and animals condition.
Kenya is heavily dependent on its agriculture and needs water.
According to experts, heavy downpours will occur in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the central Rift Valley and northwestern Kenya. More arid regions, such as Turkana and Wajir, could also be drenched especially in the mornings.
Occasional rainfall is also expected in parts of the Coast, the southeastern plains and northeastern Kenya. But generally unstable and cloudy conditions will occur across the country.
Temperatures are however slightly increasing, during the day they will range between 20 and 28 degrees, while at night they will be between 10 and 19 degrees.
The increase in temperature range is another characteristic of climate change in recent years.
