An explosive device planted on the road caused a bus to explode this morning near Mandera, a Kenyan town on the border with Somalia, which has already been the scene of terrorist attacks by cells affiliated with Al Shabaab.
In the explosion, three of the forty people travelling on the road called 'Arabia', coming from the village of Lafey, died instantly and others are fighting for their lives in the hospital in Mandera County, with a serious shortage of blood for transfusions.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Among those on board were government officials who were on their way to Mandera to deliver documents relating to school examinations to be held in the coming days throughout the country.
According to the authorities, they were the target of the terrorists, since in recent days grenades had been thrown at government offices in the area and an attack had been attempted on the border police camp in the Arabia area. The bomb was allegedly planted on the road to Mandera during the night by the terrorist group.
