Ethiopian Airways, on routes connecting travelers from Italy to Kenya via Addis Ababa, have also adhered to the latest provisions of the Italian Ministry of Health that require passengers and staff to wear FFP2 masks on board aircraft. According to the provision, it will be up to individual airlines to check that passengers are properly fitted before boarding.
While in Italy the situation seems to be easier to manage, with airports that for two days have been sending out repeated announcements from terminal loudspeakers and at carrier check-ins reminding passengers to wear FFP2 masks, the organization of the return of travelers from abroad, especially from Mombasa, seems more problematic. Certainly in Addis Ababa there will also be dispensers of masks, while in Kenya, before departure, it is advisable to buy (many pharmacies and supermarkets are equipped with them) the FFP2.
Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the Ministry of Health regulations.
According to the new regulations, "in order to guarantee safety standards, in the case of flights with a high occupancy rate, hand luggage may be collected at the gate for boarding in the hold; the on-board service may be carried out in a reduced format to minimize the passage and parking in the cabin of flight personnel; food and beverages will be provided in such a way as to allow the maintenance of the highest standards of hygiene, in single sealed portions.
In any case, the possibility of requesting certain types of special meals will be ensured; boarding and disembarkation from the aircraft must take place in an orderly manner, in rows. Passengers will be required to scrupulously follow the instructions of the cabin crew".
