First signs of the big rainy season in Kenya.
For the past few days, scattered thunderstorms have been raging both in the coastal regions and in the interior, in the Lake Victoria area and the capital Nairobi.
In the latter, a violent flood broke out last night, which, also due to well-known drainage problems in some districts of the metropolis and its morphology, with ups and downs and small streams running through it, has created quite a bit of damage and a partial toll of four deaths.
One of these is a police officer who rushed with some colleagues to try to save a family trapped by the fury of the waters in the popular district of Kamukunji.

The cause of the inconvenience that forced many families to leave their homes was in particular the bursting of manhole covers. A policeman allegedly fell into one of them and drowned.
Three other people were swept away by the fury of the waters and their bodies, found lifeless, were transferred to the morgue.
There was also inconvenience for motorcyclists who lost their vehicles and for motorists, with several roads blocked and neighbourhoods isolated. On the coast, weather phenomena were limited to heavy rain in tourist destinations, with signs of improvement over Easter, but as always the forecasts of the weather services in these parts (and elsewhere too, for goodness sake) do not have a reputation for great reliability.
Certainly those who are most afraid of heavy rainfall are the inhabitants of rural villages and those living near reservoirs. The Red Cross has already issued warnings along the Sabaki River and in the Tana River basin.
