Three days visit to Nairobi for the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Italian Cooperation Emanuela Del Re.
Main reason, the participation in the International Conference on Sustainable Development ICPD25 that this year was hosted by the Kenyan capital. But the visit to Kenya for the number 2 of the Farnesina was also an opportunity to strengthen the bilateral commitment of Italy and Kenya in trade relations and to reaffirm common efforts in the fight against terrorism. Important in this sense are the face-to-face with the owner of the Treasury, Ukur Yattani, who recently replaced Henri Rotich, involved in the scandal of the dam contracted to the Italian company CMC in Ravenna, and the one with her colleague Monica Juma, Secretary of the Government Cabinet at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Juma also talked about the volunteer Silvia Romano and the joint efforts of the police forces of the two countries to shed light on her death, just a few days after the first anniversary of her abduction. All this while in Chakama the trial of three alleged members of the gang that kidnapped the Milanese girl was suspended for the umpteenth time. A trial which, however, has little to do with the resolution of the case.
On the subject of Cooperation, the Deputy Minister also visited the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital, realized and managed by the Italian NGO World Friends with the contributions of the Italian Cooperation and and has seen the initiative "Business Incubator in Kenya" organized by the University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and funded by the Italian Cooperation Service. Since 2017, the initiative has trained at least 500 young entrepreneurs who have created almost 7500 new jobs in Kenya.
