Those who are not yet familiar with PWAM (Progress Welfare Association of Malindi) will know that it is the only active association of citizens, residents and tourists that works daily to improve the town in terms of the environment, health and many aspects that govern social life with attention to the development of the tourism sector, which is a major resource and source of income for so many Malindi residents.
Speaking of facts, PWAM has been organizing the Malindi cleanup every month for the past 4 years and over time has been able to engage institutions like no other in Kenya. It has pursued recycling, inclusion and anti-corruption initiatives, among others.
Those who are still unfamiliar with PWAM and have not become members of this "family" that brings together people of different nationalities and backgrounds who share a love for Malindi, a passion for socially useful activities and active participation, understood as the best way to affect the changes necessary for the sustainable growth of a community, can do so by participating in the annual general meeting and fundraising dinner, "a pivotal moment that celebrates our collective efforts toward progress and positive change in our community," as PWAM itself reminds us, asking all Malindi-goers and those who live there to join together for "an evening of reflection, empowerment and unity." But it is also an evening where there will be an opportunity for everyone to propose, ask for advice and receive suggestions and information, as well as learn about the association's upcoming projects and strategic plans and meet the guest of honor, Kilifi County First Lady Susanne Mung'aro and the new head of security and KWS in Malindi..
The event is set from 5 p.m. onward at the Ocean Beach Resort, with dinner from 7 p.m. to raise funds (Kes. 3000 excluding drinks).
"By attending," PWAM reminds, "you will play an essential role in shaping the future of our organization and ensuring the success of our impactful initiatives.
