I do it for you, added value for Watamu

The Bonasera family's initiatives, from the environment to social issues

23-08-2025 by redazione

The association “I do it for you” in Watamu, founded by the Bonasera family, owners of the Barracuda Resort, on the initiative of their young daughter Thea to clean up the beaches of plastic and waste, has now become one of the most useful and educational projects to improve the lives of the local population and raise awareness.
After launching the beach cleanup program, which also involved beach boys and, above all, unemployed people and former drug and alcohol addicts, I do it for you has dedicated itself to the problem of abuse that often leads young people and children to turn to drugs. So Giuseppe Bonasera, with the help of a local psychologist, set up a ‘traveling cinema’ complete with a generator and lighting to show animated feature films for children directly in the suburbs, combined with educational documentaries to help them understand the dangers of certain bad habits.
In addition to this, Bonasera has been involved in building wells in Malindi and Watamu for communities that do not have access to water, with the active cooperation of the Miami-based foundation ‘Victor Water for Life’.
The new project, on the other hand, is aimed at one of the most neglected groups of Kenyans, both by institutions and often by the younger generations, including their own children. These are the elderly.
In recent days, “I do it for you” has launched the “Wazee Canteen.”
The owner of Barracuda says, “We have set up a canteen and distribute one meal a day, providing assistance and dignity to over 25 elderly people in the Watamu community, selected with the help of our psychologist and the village chief. We will dedicate ourselves daily to this group of people who are too often forgotten and left to die without dignity.”
