The success of Italian Prosecco in Kenya

The showcase of our best importers

29-03-2024 by redazione

It is one of the Italian words that Kenyans manage to pronounce correctly, not like 'spageti' instead of 'spaghetti' or like pizza, which comes out of their mouths almost like the city of the leaning tower.
'Prosecco' is pronounced well, with the two 'c's and vowels unaffected by the English imprinting.
Perhaps it is because there is a special feeling with bubbles, especially on the part of the young people who have elected this particular wine from the Valdobbiadene area, produced from grapes of the single variety Glera, as one of the most popular and suitable for every occasion.
In the beginning it was the moscato, or sweet sparkling wine.
Then the tastes of the Kenyan middle and high class were refined and the classic fruity dry of Prosecco di Valdobbiadene conquered Nairobi and its surroundings, continuing to be a classic also for international tourists, not only Italians, who frequent the coast.
The most important and competent Italian importers, from year to year, update their catalogue with more and more valuable bubbles, good value for money and capable of standing out, winning the favour of the local population who have learnt to recognise prosecco as one of Italy's excellent food and wine products.
Here is an example of some of the best labels on the Kenyan market, thanks to our reference importers.

PROSECCO DI VALDOBBIADENE SUPERIORE DOCG

Fresh and elegant, Pederiva's Brut is a Prosecco that goes well with small fish hors d'oeuvres, from salmon to tuna, from oysters to calamari. Also excellent with sushi and sashimi and fresh cheeses.
Straw yellow, it has a fine and persistent perlage. The nose expresses intense aromas of white-fleshed fruit and citrus fruits, typical of Prosecco, with hints of vegetables and bread crust.
The palate is delicate, with great freshness, characterised by great drinkability before a clean and very pleasant finish, with a residual sugar content of between 0 and 12 grams per litre.

BOSCO MALERA WINERY
Cardinals Wines
Conegliano Valdobbiadene - Prosecco Superiore

BORTOLOMIOL WINERY
PROSECCO SUPERIORE D.O.C.G. "II SENIOR"
EXTRA DRY MILLESIMATO

II Senior is the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg par excellence, the Latin name is understood by all, even internationally as the name 'Prosecco'. For many years the sparkling wine Prosecco di Valdobbiadene was known only as Extra Dry because of its natural sweetness and residual sugar. Today, as Bortolomiol has several different versions of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg in its traditional line, the Roman numeral 'II' on the capsule indicates that it is the second in gradation from driest to sweetest, while the name Senior recalls its primogeniture.
Its balanced dose of residual sugars and enveloping aromas give it smoothness and great drinkability. It is a wine for all occasions: for convivial aperitifs, but it is in the kitchen that it finds its greatest exaltation.

Imported and sold by Vinyasa (See here the file and other importer information)

S. ORSOLA PROSECCO ROSE'
EXTRA DRY MILLESIMATO

Casa Sant'Orsola offers a special prosecco, because it is a very elegant rosé that does not lose its Extra Dry Millesimato characteristics.
Light salmon pink in colour, illuminated by fine perlage, the nose is pleasant with notes of raspberry syrup, wild strawberry, wisteria, Pink Lady apple and mint. In the mouth it is soft with a good balance between freshness and residual sugar.
Excellent as an aperitif, ideal with delicate dishes and seafood.

Imported and sold by Caffè & More (See here the card and other importer information)
