Kenya, ICU beds are emptier

More recoveries than cases, but few tests

E’ il giorno di pochi tamponi e tanti pazienti dimessi in Kenya, con percentuale che torna poco sopra il 10% (dal preoccupante 13 di ieri) ma che è anche poco significativa dato appunto il basso numero di tamponi, 1852 che hanno rilevato 195 casi positivi di Covid-19.
Più interessanti i numeri relativi alle guarigioni, con 81 pazienti che sono stati dimessi dalle varie strutture ospedaliere del Paese e 146 dai programmi di assistenza domiciliare, per un totale di 277 guariti dal Covid-19.
Il Ministero della Salute durante il briefing quotidiano di lunedì 19 ottobre ha anche illustrato i dati dell’emergenza sanitaria: attualmente il totale dei pazienti intubati in terapia intensiva è di 39 persone, mentre altrettante sono sotto ossigeno supplementare.
Il numero dei casi non leggeri ricoverati nelle strutture sanitarie in tutto il Kenya è salito a 1.084, mentre quello delle persone in isolamento a domicilio, secondo i dati trasmessi, è pari a 2480.
Sarebbe altrettanto interessante capire che fine hanno fatto gli altri presunti 8510 casi attivi.
La risposta in parte potrebbe essere giustificata dall’alto numero di casi di camionisti in ingresso dalle frontiere con Tanzania, Uganda e Somalia che, dopo la positività, preferiscono tornare oltreconfine a seguire il programma di assistenza domiciliare. Ma non basta.
Sulla costa la situazione non è critica, soprattutto perché non ci sono casi gravi ma crescono gli asintomatici e non solo tra la popolazione locale. Da Nairobi hanno espressamente chiesto alle autorità della Contea di Kilifi di sensibilizzare la propria gente e spiegare che essere asintomatici non significa che “corona non c’è”, ma semplicemente che il virus continua a girare e non è ancora passato, come del resto è normale non essendo sparito più o meno in nessun angolo del mondo.
